amazing arty-board
still loving this second board. not many post to it, and I only happen in occasionally, but i'm glad it's here.
almost like having the other side of the forum, except that we still got tons of threads in the "new" forum that make it quite mucky to get through...

Hooray for the semi-secret board!
MarcB, Tue Mar 15 19:45:49 GMT 2005

I'm getting to prefer this board - less twats. Make that NO twats. Too many newbies going in feet first with questions that have been asked, and answered, millions of times. When I was a newbie I waited 3 months or so just looking, reading and building up knowledge, so as not to piss too many people off (not sure if it worked ;-p) But its the pointless shit thats goes on there now. What has the once cool Jelly board come to :-(
Wonder if le_plop knows when the other side will be up and running.

Space Walk lyrics
Hey, I really enjoyed your sight, but part of the lyrics to Space Walk are wrong. I believe he is saying "Zero G's Im feeling fine" and not "Zero gee Im feeling fine." Just thought I'd point that out. Later.
Dan, Fri Mar 11 19:00:30 GMT 2005
-
Cheers Dan, but I've just listened again a few times and it sounds to me like 'Zero gee and I feel fine'.
Maybe ask on the Jelly forum and see what peeps there think?
arthur, Sat Mar 12 14:50:06 GMT 2005
-
And I don't think it would be Zero Gs because G is gravity and you wouldn't say 'Zero gravitys', you'd say Zero gravity, singular.
arthur, Sat Mar 12 14:51:26 GMT 2005
-
Cheers anyway, though :-)

That is so fucking weird! I was going to post exactly that question yesterday under Mr Bong's 'Anyone remember' thread below, cos I was listening to a CD that had 'Take California' on it.

propellorheads
The only thing that I can refer you to is the lyrics to one of the b-sides to their 'crash' ep... "props vote of gratitude"
I think that may have been a swansong.
:(
Will (1 half) got sick or something. Hopefully he'll be back, but what with the climate of !!death of dance!! and slsk, should he bother? They dropped some goods. The world is pretty darn ungrateful though.

ME TOO
I lost a friend in the tsunami confusion for a week... kept checking the only place I thought I could look... their weekly travel blog.
Got a phone call two weeks later... all was reasonably well (injured but ok).
Turns out he only updated his blog this week.
I guess web based communication can sometimes be forgotten amidst reality checks.
Hope Will is ok and the Props just bowed out by choice.

Just been on the MK2?? and someone else signed in as ramblin man and it still let me use that user name - there were two of us! (which is bad news)
So I start posting and then the threads disappear.
WARNING: The original person will have to be damn quick in signing up to the finalised Jelly board, otherwise someone else could pose as 'mwude' etc....
PS - watch out for the cool Shouty avatars ;-)

As on Lemonjelly website:
We've had a nightmare week desperately trying to save our website from extinction, but the long and the short of it is that it's gone. Where? we asked our web hosting people. Just gone, they replied. Coming back at all, we asked, lips trembling slightly? Probably not, no, they replied. How? and What? Where? Who? we asked, but answer there came none. So RIP our old website, and unfortunately RIP most of the data that went with it, which means among other things that all the postings on the Forum and the log-in details - not to mention our mailing lists! Many apologies - believe us, we're really sorry!
But every cloud has a silver lining and we're pressing on with this new incarnation that will incorporate more blogging action and hopefully some other new features. Please make it as welcome as you did the last site (the Forum should feel pretty familiar) - we have great plans for it!

New B Sides
Are sublime as ever. Funky as hell Baby Battle Scratch and the lovely chilled Nice Weather... live. Oh I'm lovin all these B Sides!!! Only dissapointment was Nice Weather B Side came in a clear jewel case only with a patterned CD. I'm I meant to put it in the proper cardboard sleeve wiv the other CD? What u all think of them?
Nothing At All, Mon Jan 24 19:24:19 GMT 2005

Well, I just bought Stay With You yesterday - it hit the Kiwi shelves last week apparently - so The Shouty Track could take a while. But the sticker was stuck on the cellophane wrapper & they'd pre-slit up the side to take the CD out, so I'm sorted!
No official release date for the album but they reckoned it'd be mid-Feb - I reckon that's being hopeful.
henners, Mon Jan 24 22:41:05 GMT 2005

I don't like having to discard the stickers. They've got the info on them. A real dilemma.

Riko - I hope you'll be happy to note, "Under the Radar" mag had a half-page advert for the LJ stuff, and they showed all 4 releases (Deluxe CD, Reg CD, 5 x 10", and DVD). Also, they reviewed the CD and DVD (DVD got 9 of 10, CD just 7 - boo!).

Surely the track versions must be slightly different as you technically can't mix tracks when they're on opposite sides of the vinyl - unless the jelly have accounted for this with some sort of supermegahappy spring-loaded lightspeed bit of kit which is included in the box set.

Because the HMV one is unavailable, I ordered mine from http://www.puregroove.co.uk/ (thanks Marc) for £25.99. Not sure what they are like because I haven't ordered from them before.

I read somewhere that the box set is limited to 1000, so it is quite limited. I'm out of the country so I have had to put my future ownership of one of these box sets into the hands of my mates (who are worryingly unreliable at the best of times).

bong, Mon Jan 24 20:21:58 GMT 2005

1000 is a bit low. I imagine they're not making a huge amount of money from these box sets (maybe even breaking even, or a loss!), so that's why they're so limited.

NZ Herald LJ feature
There was a pretty cool full-page feature in yesterday's NZ Herald's Time Out suppliment - two articles: one all about John Rowles, the Kiwi crooner they sampled for 'Only Time'; the other a review of the album, mainly focusing on the novelty of hearing John Rowles being sampled by "a couple of British beat boffins" but it gives it 4 stars out of 5.
I can't find it on the paper's website, nor can I be bothered to transcribe the full thing, so here's some highlights: "Time Out tracked Rowles down in Sydney... [he] didn't know of Lemon Jelly or that the duo had used 'If I Only Had Time' on their track 'Only Time'. At first he was also suspicious whether Lemon Jelly had proper clearance from the song's publisher... Although he's not a fan of electronic music, Rowles is all praise for Lemon Jelly. "It's very cool that they are aware of the song and they know I was the original recorder. That they're doing something with it 36 years later is quite incredible. Good luck to them and if they're going to go and get airplay on it then wonderful."... Lemon Jelly are a downbeat duo whose electronic noodlings are made more curious and intriguing by the fact that no one really knows what they look like. They prefer to be identified by cartoon images or obscured photos." There's a photo with the article I hadn't seen before, each of them against a green background & so blurred you can't make out their features.
Here's an article that might give you an idea of how the Kiwis view John Rowles.
And here's a review of a bar/restaurant round the corner from me that I went to with Mr Spam which I thought Mr Bongdevil would appreciate.

pensive is too small a word,

I think this reviewer gets a lot of things right. Forget the cheesy "vast record collections" comment (which I've seen in maybe a thousand reviews), he touches on a lot of the elements that make Lemon Jelly um, er, Lemon Jelly.

'64-'95 DVD
Don't know wheter it was mentioned before, but the DVD (Jap) also contains a DTS track along with Dolby Digital 5.1, makes a hell of a difference to some tracks i.e Slow Train & Shouty. The Dolby Digital sounds a tiny bit agressive and blotted. The DTS is more refined (easier on the ears) but may play a few decibels lower on most systems (just up the volume) Well worth the wait !
Best wishes.

The dvd has 3 audio tracks, both DTS & Dolby Digital 5.1 and a 2-channel PCM track.

64-95 gets a Mixmag thumbs up
A positive review by Mixmag 4/5. Generally very keen on it and amusingly point out whilst some groups are moving away from samples and making a cack job of it ( think Prodigy ) LJ are digging deeper into those dusty record boxes. Another good line was something along the lines of ' Lemon Jelly could cheer up death row'!

Strictly Kev mix
Thought I'd inform you of a new Strictly Kev mix... it's called 'Raiding the 20th Century (Words & Music Expansion)'... basically 168 songs in 59 minutes... monumental stuff.
Tracklist here:
http://www.djfood.org/rt20c/pdf/rt20clisting.pdf
The mix is on Soulseek, Bittorent and a couple of websites (look on the Ninja Tune forum)... Ninja had to take it off their website because so many people were downloading it.

Danyboy, Wed Jan 19 21:03:36 GMT 2005

VBCrlf - Visual Basic Carriage Return Line Feed.
When you press ENTER in the multi-line boxes this invisible tag is added - you can see it in word sometimes as that weird P symbol.
Anyway - you swap that for the html code and voila line breaks in HTML
Probly different code if running different browser - VBCrlf is probly just the Microsoft way of daying CR LF

um, er, I guess I am having conniptions.
Plus, this is the second big crash of a system of theirs (forum crash was pretty big, wasn't it?), this time it's even bigger.
Maybe next time their crash takes half of the UK I-net with them? (heh heh)
landlouper, Wed Jan 19 11:46:05 GMT 2005

Real bad timing for them, if it is a crash, just before the album launch...
macclad, Wed Jan 19 12:39:18 GMT 2005

I think they are moving servers and/or to a different hosting company, and sounds like there is a site update as well.
I'm guessing it wasn't meant to take this long ;-)
Sometimess you end up waiting for other people to do stuff, so it's out of your hands.
arthur, Wed Jan 19 12:46:11 GMT 2005
-
guess we'll never know what happened cause they likely won't share that info. but, if carpathian bungleman's right, then there's data retrieval and system restoration involved, which points to a crash. maybe it happened when they were updating jellyland, but don't think that would take airside with it. (just me speculating again, I know).
landlouper, Wed Jan 19 12:52:19 GMT 2005

Oh yes, I was going on what Mr Alex said about moving to Cornwall - that might be a red herring.

the Jelly Lab thing was a red herring, pretty sure it wasn't Nick. The old Jelly Lab site re-appeared briefly after the crash, and the new tickets say '64-95 tour'. Methinks somebody thought they were being clever...

moldavite crystal helps with reducing symptons of confusion. yeeeooouuuuchhhheeee mama i have eleven bites on my right ankle.
By the way henners i have just bought you a local chocolate bar called 'oh henry'...super, you just get blinkin' everywhere. ttfn xx
anglepoise, Mon Jan 17 22:53:45 GMT 2005

moldavite crystal eh....do i have to rub it while wishing hard for sanity to return? I learnt the perfect hangover remedy off a site called howstuffworks.com :burnt toast for carbon, egg for cysteine, banananana for potassium and stuff and fruit juice for vits. plus caffeine free aspirin. will perform an experiment in the name of science to see if it works!

Ta muchly Miss Ang. Had them in Canadia, the double chocolate version's yummy scrumptious but I'm not too keen on the nutty one...
Don't scratch them, it'll only make them worse. Hi to Mr Ang. xx
henners, Mon Jan 17 23:10:38 GMT 2005
-
doh! think it might be a nutty one...oh well you ungrateful get, your havin' it! along with other articles of randomness. Now, Bazzamate, as for the moldavite it is very rare and landed in Czech land about 10 years ago it is part of a meterorite, anyhoo it is good for developing psychic abilities, especially dreaming, helps reduce confusion, you just have to touch it and yea are magically empowered but i wear mine about my neck todos las dias. Found it cheap in Buenos Aires as my dream told me too, oh the madness of it all. Now where the flip is this new and improved laboratory, will we have to wear spesh goggles...white coats ...and snort the gasses...toy with the pickled samples... back in blighty thursday so see you on the flipside...
anglepoise , Tue Jan 18 19:36:12 GMT 2005
-
funnily enough ive been remembering some weird dreams of late, maybe a moldavite meteor is heading my way. id best dream where its going to land so i can get out of the way sharpish

right here is the most unlucky story of anglepoise to date. On returning from the air station on thursday i was involved in a car accident, (not my fault, no way) and the car is fooked. poor little hindi hindi my silver chariot, then, last nite whilst my poor ittle silver chariot was resting up outside my gaff, some bastards came along and twatted the glass out of my windows, so now i am fully without a car, feckin' bastard drivers and vandals. They did not however take the cd collection which is of course a bonus, and to make things better my lJ ticket came thru the post---yehhaa, there is a god.. anyway i sign off with a big bottom lip on, which should disintegrate as the wine flows.
anglepoise, Sat Jan 22 13:33:55 GMT 2005

that's a script waiting to be filmed :D weed b good for bottom lips ;D
bong, Sat Jan 22 15:14:14 GMT 2005

shit, thats harsh mate. atleast you and the discs are ok after all. can you get anything on the insurance? i'm just making a cup of tea in memory of your chariot (and cos i am thirsty!). good news on the ticket
barrington, Sun Jan 23 11:28:32 GMT 2005

yeah fully comp, thank the rich tea biscuits. hey i went to my mates recoding studio and was amazed at the size of a cadac mixing desk which was all yellow and red buttons and nobs for twiddling. huge mamoth thing it was. groovy.

Good evening
Hello all. Christ the shakes very getting bad until I found you lovely people again. Hope everyone is as excited as me at the new website and forum. Is this the first re-design?
Nothing At All, Mon Jan 17 18:45:35 GMT 2005
-
Hey, nothing at all. Suffering from the shakes, too.
Might not be a re-design, if carp bungleman is correct - might have just been a massive crash...?
As henners says, hope that we didn't lose another ton of posts. would be a disaster...
landlouper, Mon Jan 17 19:46:31 GMT 2005
-
Hey landlouper, cheers for the hello! Seems to much of concidence so close to the album release to be a crash and they must have shocking IT if it takes em this long to recover! A soothing thought for you all.. should they lose it all think of it as the smiley feeling u get when u're the first person to step in untouched snow....

What's Gone Worng
Anyone have any ideas about what's happened to the whole Airside/LJ shebang?
MarcB, Thu Jan 13 14:40:45 GMT 2005
-
what's gone wrong?
I was thinking update, too. But, if people are smart/slick, they prepare the update separately, wait till an opportune time, then just make the swap quickly. Unless there was some kind of melt down, you'd think it would all be OK.
Plus, why take down everything (Airside, Airsideshop, LJ) at the same time?
landlouper, Fri Jan 14 11:22:51 GMT 2005

i'm guessin a site update..new album, new splash o' virtual paint
